Stitches & Craft Show Sydney

2 - 5 March 2017

After a chequered past few years, Australia's original craft event, the Stitches and Craft Show is set to take its place on the show calendar once again. Expertise Events have secured the original trademark from Reed Exhibitions. Stitches and Craft Show, first held in 1987 at Rosehill, was the vision of George Pyne of World Trade Promotions. It was eventually acquired by Reed Exhibitions. The Stitches and Craft Show defied the pessimists by establishing itself as not only a much-loved event but one of the most successful annual consumer events.

In recent times when Stitches and Craft changed hands, the show eventually collapsed. Expertise Events filled this gap with the launch of the Craft and Sewing Show (formerly CraftExpo) in the venues where the Stitches and Craft Shows were originally held. After fruitful discussions with the original owners, Expertise Events has secured the name and original logo.

The FDAA's most recent participation at the Stitches & Craft Show started in 2009 at the then CraftExpo with 'Paint By Numbers', a highly successful fundraising event for The Humour Foundation & the Clown Doctors, which involved the General Public painting three X 9 metre long canvases in Sydney, Brisbane & Melbourne.

Sydney Royal Easter Show

Good Friday every year

The FDAA promotes and supports decorative painting at the Sydney Royal Easter Show (RES) yearly by:

  • Exhibiting, demonstrating and encouraging membership on a stand in the Arts Pavilion at the Show, traditionally on Good Friday. The stand is manned from 9 am to 5 pm. Demonstrations of a variety of painting techniques together with a display of a small cross-section of our art are part of our presence at the show.
  • Providing funds towards prizes for the Folk & Decorative Art Classes in the Creative Arts Section of the Arts Competition at the RES.

Members are encouraged to be part of both the RES Competition and to volunteer and assist with the stand.
